The Short Version

Why we reach for it.

Linear is built for how technical teams actually work: fast, keyboard-driven and opinionated about process instead of trying to be everything to everyone. When heavier tools like Asana or Jira are slowing a team down, it's a genuine step up.

Linear questions...

Is Linear better than Asana?
remove
add

Not universally. It's built for technical, fast-moving teams specifically, whilst Asana still makes more sense for broader cross-functional work.

Can non-technical teams use Linear?
remove
add

They can, but it's worth being honest: Linear rewards teams comfortable with a keyboard-first, opinionated flow. For marketing or ops-heavy work we'd often reach for Asana instead.

Does Linear replace Jira?
remove
add

For most product and engineering teams, yes, and far more pleasantly. The exception is heavily regulated or enterprise setups that lean on Jira's deep configuration and governance.

Do you set Linear up from scratch or work with an existing workspace?
remove
add

Either. We'll usually assess what's already there first, tidy the teams, cycles and workflows, then wire in the integrations rather than rebuilding for the sake of it.
